I had an amazing chest workout yesterday, thought I might jot down a few comments on it.
I went in to the gym with a job to do, just like every day, Destroy that body part. But I was feeling especially good today. We all have up and down days in our workouts.Your state of mind is just as important as your physical state during intense training and on this day I was ready to go.
I started off with bench press, and I decided today I was going to do 5×5. This is always intense. If you have never tried it, it is a great way to increase your max bench press. After 2 warm ups I started my sets: 345×5 365×5, 385×5, 405×5 and then a hard set of 425×5. I have been hitting the bench press hard recently, I am only about 10-15lbs away from 500lb raw bench press.
After that, I went to incline dumbbell bench press for 3 sets of 10. Then I made my way to the cable cross over for another 3 sets. I finished off with dips, 4 sets to failure.
I was really hurting after this workout, and I encourage anyone trying to boost their bench to give it a try.
