Personal Update
November 24, 09
It has been some time since I have written a “personal update”, so I want to take this opportunity to write my first official post-show update!
It’s kinda crazy how fast time flies by without even realizing it. Just a few months ago, I stepped on stage in the biggest event in my life, the WBFF Worlds. Now October and November have come and gone, and I find myself in the midst of rolling into December, and I am knee deep in many projects in my life.
Everytime you enter into a show, a whirlwind of emotion flows through your body. Excitement, anticipation, fear, nervousness, anxiety, and the list goes on. Once the show ends, every emotion leaves the body and you are left with something empty. After 3 years of competing in World Championship status events, I have come to realize that this might just be a good thing! Finding “normalcy” as we know it, is one of the most peaceful feelings there is. I guess it’s called “back to reality” and everyday living. I think my husband, who is also a fellow WBFF Pro, is happy to have the woman he married back… not “competition crazy Emily”.
I always find ways to keep myself occupied during off-season. This year my husband and I are setting up our own business website for competition and online training. It has taken so much for me to get into the groove of just BUSINESS, BUSINESS and more BUSINESS. From working 8 hour days and working out 2 hours a day while watching literally everything that goes into my mouth, to working 12 hour days of training, 2-3 hours of personal work after work, and keeping on emails and future promotional goals. I find myself lucky to get a 1 hour of successful training in per day! This is not to say that within that 1 hour of training I don’t get bothered by my co-workers for work related things (which by the way, drive me nuts) I learn to deal with it because it is LIFE!
It is this time in the year that I start recollecting my thoughts, reminiscing about all the events that happened during 2009, and making a yearly follow up. With yearly follow ups, I also have time to sit down and analyze just what I want to do to progress in 2010. I have set many goals for this year. Many are personal, many are business. I have a plan that I am going to use, and that will help keep me goal driven throughout the year to come. I use the saying, “if you fail to plan, plan to fail”. Last year I planned out every single detail of my year, and I followed it 100% and was very successful. I have great confindence that 2010 will also be a successful year for both myself, Matt and our business!
This weekend I am actually doing my last shoot of the year (I think at least!) So this week is my L2, WS1 and D4 Thermal Shock combo week! 6L of water a day, and gradually taking it down to almost nothing friday night!
I will be shooting with a new photographer on the scene named Arthur Arsenik, who runs Arsenik Photography out of T.O.. I am quite happy to say I will be officially done dieting this Saturday… and will be going for the biggest, juiciest, fattiest 16oz New York Strip Steak, a glass of wine, and maybe… just maybe a small piece of my favourite dessert… CHEESECAKE!
I will be sure to post photos, and video of my last shoot as soon as the images are sent to me, and i make time to put together my own video! Thank god for iMovie, as they have been my tool to create my own personal videos! I must say, it’s been a few months since I used that program on my Mac, so I hope I’ve still got the touch!
Wishing everyone health and personal wealth in fitness
